Film analysis 

Mr. & Mrs. Mahi is a 2024 Hindi-language romantic sports drama film directed by Sharan Sharma and produced by Zee Studios and Dharma Productions. It stars Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor. The film is centered around cricket and Virat Kohli, and both lead actors share the same nickname as with Dhoni. The film was released on 31 May 2024 to mixed reviews from critics.

A husband and wife couple who love cricket start training in cricket because of her innate talent.

 Mahendra, a failed cricketer, and Mahima, a doctor, come together through an arranged marriage. Having the same nickname Mahi, they become Mr. and Mrs. Mahi together. They soon discover their common love and passion for cricket. Eventually, Mahendra recognizes his wife's cricketing talent and encourages her to pursue her dream of becoming a cricketer and coaches her on this journey.

 Cricket is life for Mahendra (Mahi) but his ego fails him by choice and he has to run his father's sports shop. Years later his marriage is fixed with Mahima (Mahi) and they find two things in common, their pet names and love. Cricket.Mahendra gets a coaching job but declines it, Mahendra is not happy working as a doctor because of her seniority. Mahendra sees Mahima's skills in cricket and decides to train her against everyone's wishes. Mahima becomes a successful cricketer under Mahendra's coaching. and plays for the national team. But Mahendra's ego comes in between Mahima's success.

Plot 

The virtue of an arranged marriage brings together Mahendra, a failed cricketer, and Mahima, a doctor living in Jaipur. Having the same nickname, Mahi, they together become Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, akin to the nickname of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. They soon discover their common love and passion for cricket. Mr. Mahi, a failed cricketer who couldn't make it; spots cricketing talent in his wife when he sees her smashing tennis ball sixes, and encourages her to chase her dream of becoming a cricketer. Buoyed by the encouragement she receives from her husband, Mrs. Mahi a practicing doctor eventually gives up her career as a doctor and takes a strike on her cricketing journey.
